The Day After

Christmas was great! Things are different around here because of the ice storm though, not as many houses have lights up this year. I will get to see my fill of lights on Friday at Silver Dollar City. This will be our second year going and I love it. I have been talking about it for weeks. My son got only Legos for Christmas, and he has been busy. It took him all Christmas Day to build his fire station. Today he built his fire boat, which really floats. We're going to put him in the bath tub early tonight and let him have fun. Wehad dinner with our friends at the Chinese restuarant last night (or yearly tradition for Christmas dinner). My husband doesn't like the idea of me spending all day in the kitchen to cook a meal that is eaten in 30 minutes. I would have to say that I agree with him!

Home sweet home!

We lost power at our home for about 6 days. It is so good to be home. You just don't realize how great your home is until you can't be there. We would stop by everyday to check on our house and pick up clean clothes or other supplies, but other than that we did not go home. We slept at two different houses during the ice storm and had heat and the other one did not. I think that at one time about 80% or more of my city did not have power. When that many people don't have heat, you run out of places to go. Quiznos was our refuge from the cold, and we were able to charge up our cell phones there. Good to be home and looking forward to Christmas vacation.

Vacation Projects 2

I also created an accordian album about my family vacation to Montana this summer. I used the Fall accordian album class from Heart in Hand Scraps. There is a link in the places I go section. Such a cute album.

Vacation Projects

I was finally able to finish some of my projects that I had been working on during my Thanksgiving vacation.

Here is the Christmas countdown calendar. I used American Crafts paper, American Crafts rub-ons, and embroidery floss. I also played with my decorative scissors and tiny hole punch to make the scalloped edge. Lots of fun.

My husband the hero

Hooray for my husband. He was able to fix our computer. Now I can post pictures. Not much else going on today. My parents are visiting from Indiana for the holidays. We've been having fun visiting and preparing for tomorrow. I'm just glad that my family doesn't care about boxed mashed potatoes and gravy in a jar. I would hate to spend all day cooking tomorrow. I like cooking, don't get me wrong, but I don't want to do it for hours and hours on a holiday. Luckily my husband agrees with me. We go to the Chinese restuarant for dinner on Christmas. It always reminds me of the movie A Christmas Story. After the dogs eat the turkey, they have to go to the Chinese restuarant for dinner and the waiters sing "Fa ra ra ra ra."

Technology

Our computer that has all of our family pictures is being difficult. For some reason Windows is not running correctly, therefore we can not get any information off of it. If you do not have an external hard drive, I suggest you get one. My husband thinks that he can get the information off of our machine, so I am hopeful. I can not post any new pics until the computer is fixed. Our laptop doesn't have Photoshop on it.

Just got back from the store. Pretty crazy there. Everyone is buying for Thanksgiving. Have a great holiday with your family. Don't spend all day cooking. I know that I won't. I bought as many convience foods as I could today. Boxed mashed potatoes, gravy in a jar, frozen rolls. Sounds like Thanksgiving to me.

Cleaning house

I have been busying this weekend cleaning and scraping. I am cleaning the bedroom closet and getting rid of the things that we don't wear anymore. So far I have two trash bags full. I love getting rid of things.

This weekend I have been playing with Making Memories Funky Vintage Clears. They are beautiful and fun. The best feature is that they are self adhesive. No worries about the adhesives showing through. I am also making a Christmas countdown book. When I get finished I will post some pics.
